Todays Round

Played an enjoyable 18 this morning with 3 old guys and scored well, short course only par 68. Scoring well and enjoyable are only adjectives we use to describe not an excuse to delve deeper into our round and still find areas that need improvement.

I know some people (myself included) scratch their heads in constant amazement every time a golfer hits a good shot and immediately finds the flaw, golf was never and will never be a game of perfect but we all strive for perfection every time we tee it up.

I scored remarkably consistently today posting a +2 on the front as well as the back, a quick glance at the total score is never an accurate barometer of we play. I hate only 3 fairways during the course of my entire round ( 3 the only word to describe that is pathetic). Long irons didn't fare much better, however the short irons ( 8 - 60 wedge) were phenomenal, and my biggest concern after basically a 3 year break from serious golfing. My hands seemed to retain the feel from 100 yards and in, which I'm totally loving. That feel carried over to the greens; no 3 putts today. ( The only acceptable putting philosophy in my humble opinion is every putt is going in).

Most people would encourage me to get to work immediately on my accuracy off the tee, i couldn't disagree more. The heart of the game is the short game ( Drive for show and putt for Dough).

This weekend will find me at the range and practice green working on the feel in my hands and gaining more confidence in my short game.
